This month at Swarm Bytes, I'm showing you our new gamification features like leaderboards, levels, badges, and activity charts. Specifically, I demonstrate how to enable and customize the gamification settings in your space by turning it on in the settings administration and assigning points for different types of member engagement. Remember, these features are off by default, so you'll need to activate them manually in your space settings.

I'm gonna cover leader boards, levels, badges, and the activity chart.
So when a member looks at the leader board, they first of all will see their level, and then the number of points needed to get to the next level.

Hey everyone, and welcome back to Swarm Bytes. Now at Swarm, we're all about making engagement inevitable. So in this month's Swarm Bytes, I'm gonna take you through our new gamification features. I'm gonna cover leader boards, levels, badges, and the activity chart. So let's jump right in. So this is the space for the Founder Growth Challenge, a challenge I'm running until the end of February. And I've now enabled the leader board in this space. But I'll show you how you can do it in your space. Click down on your space name. Go to settings administration and go to gamification. Now by default, this is turned off for your spaces, so you have to go in there and turn this on. Um, so you'll see here that I've already turned it on in the gamification settings. I can now go through each of these and allocate points for different activities. And these activities are when someone receives engagement on their posts. So for example, if a member goes in, they post something, they get a like, I've set it up to give them 2 points. If they post and they get a reply, they get 3 points for that reply that they've received. I've set it up to be 0 points for a post, but I've enabled bonus points. So if they post a video, they're gonna get rewarded with 4 points. So you can customise exactly how the points are awarded, giving less or 0 or even negative points. Uh, you can, you have complete control over how this works. And then under the level section, you can decide how many points are required in a, in a member's lifetime to progress through the different levels. You can also rename your levels, so you can give this level any name you want. Obviously, everyone starts off at level one. And then they progress. So in this case, they need 10 points to get to level 2, 20 points to get to level 3, etc. And you can also choose whether to include the admins and moderators on your leader board. So in this case, I've turned that on, and I'm gonna save changes. And I'll now show you what the leader board looks like. So when a member looks at the leader board, they first of all will see their level, and then the number of points needed to get to the next level. They can click on the question mark to see exactly how you've set levels up for them. And what they need to progress. Obviously, they can see here how many other members have progressed up to that particular level. So I'm on level 3 and it's showing me that 46% of members are also on level 3. And then you can see the rolling leaderboards for your space. So this will be 7 days, this will be 30 days, and then all time. So you can see right now, Chris is on top, um, and he's followed closely by Jilli and then it carries on down the list. I'm not gonna jump into the profile of you just yet. I'll come back to that. Let me show you how badges work first. OK, so I've now just jumped into my test space. I'm gonna click on settings and go to badges. You can see this space has 0 badges set up. Now either you can create a new badge from scratch, or you can import a badge from our library. So I'm gonna go import from library and I'm gonna choose one of these badges. Let's see. So I'll do the community builder badge. I can customise this. Obviously, I can use the image that's provided, or change the image. I can change the name and the description, and I can choose to auto award um this badge at various points, uh, based on the level that someone's on. I'll leave this empty now for just manual awards, and I'll save changes. So now I can assign this badge to someone manually. So I'm gonna go ahead and assign this to myself, so I can select a member, um, go to myself. I can also include a personal message. So every badge that you allocate or assign. It will trigger an email to that person who receives the badge. So I will just say something like, well done, and then I can click assigned badge. OK. And now if I close that, this badge has now been assigned to me by myself, obviously. And if I click that, I can then see uh what that badge was for and what date the badge was received. Now, when you click into a profile, uh, in any for any member in your space, you will now see the badge being listed if there is a badge assigned. Uh, obviously you're gonna assign multiple badges. You can also see what their level is and how many points are needed to progress up the level. Now this is visible to all other members in your space, if you've turned on the leaderboard. You can also see the activity, so you'll be able to look at this activity chart, which isn't showing much now because this feature's only been enabled recently, but the darker the green, the more active the member has been over the period displayed. So for example, this darker green is showing that I posted one post, 3 likes, and 3 replies. Whereas uh the most recent one was 2 likes only. So this, this will create more engagement because people can see everyone else's activities. They can see the scores needed to level up. They can help other members level up, and they can also push to get themselves levelled up by ensuring that they do whatever the uh requirements are to get more points. So it's a very exciting update, it's definitely gonna drive more engagement if you enable it. Um, I would definitely recommend posting to your community first to explain how it works, and um, yeah, uh, we're very excited to hear any feedback and thoughts you have on that. We've got drip courses coming soon, and we'll be releasing an AI chat agent, which will be able to take all the content in your space and allow your members to chat to it to get results.
